I wish I had know about this earlier! This app turns an iPhone into a hiking navigation tool comparable or better to a dedicated Garmin type hiking navigator. With this app and the companion web site you can plan routes easily using topo maps (which show trails) and then access those same maps and routes off-line in areas with no cell signal using the phones GPS capabilities. Using airplane mode allows to last days. In addition the app allows you to record actual movements and tracks location, altitude and pace information. These actual hiking "tracks" can then be saved and shared with others. Thanks for helping me to unlock the outdoors!
