Awesome GPS app!

Gaia GPS is an awesome app! Ive been using this for the last one month. I find it very user friendly, less battery draining, and accurate enough to serve my purpose. Customer service is also very nice.

Simply perfect!

I use my Gaia for hunting and get to walk in real back country and in wildlife trails. This app allows me to not bother as to where Im going as I know Ill never get lost. Bonus: waypoints to help me get back to specific hunting spots. And great to review and compare the day with hunting buddies. All that at the fraction of the price of a Garmin!!!

Great app-still the best trekkers app anywhere!

An absolute gem! I like this app. I hike and bike a great deal and the ability to box Off the area Im going to and track my return is priceless. Doesnt require an Internet connection so it retains its usefulness in the bush or rural area. Its worth every cent I paid for it. Could use more icons to differentiate more POI. Love the weather mapping.

Must have!!!!

I have to admit, I had no idea that my current phone could work as well if not better than a stand alone GPS unit Gaia GPS works Fantastic. So easy to plot out a hike into the back country

A+++++

I own a few offline GPS Mapping Apps...by far the best. You cannot go wrong here. Well done!

Amazing and precise! Perfect Gps for the iPhone

Perfect tool in the backcountry woods, download your map before you go or even a pre planned way points and no signal required. Compass works perfectly, would have been lost without it. For a long day hike, be sure to charge up your phone before you go, and close the app between use, as it eats up a lot of batteries.

HIGHLY recommended (for Canada too!)

I highly, highly recommend this app. It is a true off-line navigator that is in many ways better than many handheld GPS units. Ive tried [and purchased] several of the other top off-line navigation apps, but Gaia GPS exceeds them in every way. Some reviews have mentioned a lack of functionality in Canada but this has not been my experience in approx. 4 years of use. Ive used the app across BC, Alberta, and parts of Saskatchewan and found zero issues. Navigation is very accurate, especially with Natural Resources Canada vector topo maps. If I was to offer one criticism, it would be that some maps sources are extremely slow to download, though I suspect this is an issue with some third-party map providers rather than with Gaia itself. The developer is constantly upgrading, and is very available for comments and feedback on his Twitter feed and on the Gaia website. You can tell the development team is very committed to this app, and I commend them on what they have accomplished so far.

Poor retina compatibility

When zooming in, the map labels and trails are too small to view. The app is also not properly retina compatible- maps look blurry. It would also be great to have the ability to use Google satellite view, since its detailed enough to see trails and roads. Its not very convenient to use when it switches to topo when you zoom in... I have yet to try importing my own geo-referenced maps so I wont be asking for a refund...yet

Excellent App

I have had this app for several years and use it all the time. Great for travelling out of country where you may not have cellular data for google maps... Just download your area ahead of time. Great for hiking, kayaking, etc for logging your track, speed, distance. Always new updates getting pushed out to add new features. I recommend to everyone!

Repliable

Use it for deep woods snowmobile trips. Very satisfied!

Amazing

After a year of using this app I have to say its my fave for maps. Unlike just about every other similar app, Gaia lets you download what you need for use WITHOUT further need for an Internet connection. Since Im most often off the grid, that essential. I loaded up satellite with roads onto my mobile and no matter where I go I can see exactly where I am and the direction I need to go. My tracks are clearly shown, can be in different colors, and named with my own names if I dont take the generic name. I have yet to run into a track limit, something thats bugged me about other tracking apps. I highly recommend this app for backroad and trail travel.

The Best!

GaiaGPS has the most features of any navigation app, yet it is simple to use. Great design and execution!!

Great GPS tracking app

Amazing app, used it for our 5 day hiking trip on the chilkoot trail from Alaska to the Yukon. The accuracy for the tracking was perfect and we were able to turn the phone on in airplane mode and still be accurately tracked by the gps. I love the feature that allows us to take pictures whenever we want and have them automatically linked to the waypoint on the track.

Doesnt work well

Im having trouble with this app. GPS tracking seems to simply stop on its own. Speed indicator shows .2 kph even though Im actually going 55 kph. GPS reception was good because my Tom Tom app worked fine. The maps for New Brunswick, Canada are not good. Missing a lot of roads. The companion web app is horrible. For outdoor GPS, Im beginning to think there is no suitable IOS app. Perhaps a Garmin would be the best way go.

A great mobile hiking GPS track-recording app!

I’ve owned every sort of hiking GPS, going back to the digits-only brick-sized monsters of the 90s. This is the first one I’ve used that just did what its supposed to do without forcing me to stop moving for several minutes to mine my way through a rats-nest of menus. Its easy to record your route, see everything you need to see about the hike, share your tracks, and generally find your way.

The best GPS app

The best offline GPS map application out there. Rock solid, never crashes and really uses very little battery.

Greatest GPS app Ive ever used!

Gaia GPS is simple to use, can download many different topo maps, and has lots of great features. A+

Best GPS app

My old review- Aug 28 2000 (1 star): Yes, it is a good application. Yes, it has a good user interface. Yes, it does the job… However, if you’re an international user you have to pay an extra $4.99 for each map. There are a couple of similar, and probably better applications on the store with free maps for offline use. You can download Open Cycle Terrain and Road Maps for free with MotionX GPS application and it is only $2.99. You can cache Google maps with GPS kit application. Overall, it is a waste of money for international users. Update (June 25, 2016): As I mentioned before my previous rating was 1 star. With recent updates main issue with this application has resolved. Now you can download several topo map including google terrain map. By adding this feature now it is a perfect GPS application for outdoor enthusiasts. For several years Motion X GPS was my #1 application for all outdoor activities. Now, #1 is Gaia GPS. Try it, youll love it. It is a true 5 star application.

vey nice one

thx to developers for handy app :)

Layered maps

It would be better to sell each premium feature for all time. I can pay any money for layered maps, but its silly to buy a premium version only for a single function.
