Best GPS app for exploring the outdoors. Ive tried all the rest and this one is the best. Frequently updating and adding new features. Well worth the price.

I wish I had know about this earlier! This app turns an iPhone into a hiking navigation tool comparable or better to a dedicated Garmin type hiking navigator. With this app and the companion web site you can plan routes easily using topo maps (which show trails) and then access those same maps and routes off-line in areas with no cell signal using the phones GPS capabilities. Using airplane mode allows to last days. In addition the app allows you to record actual movements and tracks location, altitude and pace information. These actual hiking "tracks" can then be saved and shared with others. Thanks for helping me to unlock the outdoors!

Gaia GPS is the best app I have on my iPhone - I use it every time I set out on a hike/bike/ski.. any adventure. Ive used it across the world in New Zealand and plan on using it in Iceland this summer. It has allowed my iPhone to replace my $400 Garmin GPS, thats how good it is. Highly recommended!

It is clear that the developers are totally dedicated to making the app and service better all the time. Very impressed.

The best GPS app for backpacking on the App Store.

Just gave a class to a Boy Scout troop and used Gaia to show various coordinate systems. During the class I started to give my normal statement that a gps is only a backup to a map and compass ... But then realized that the last few times Ive been in the backcountry Ive used Gaia as the primary map and navigation tool. I hadnt planned it, but I guess its become so good that it just became my primary map. I also really like having multiple maps available in Gaia vs only a single printed topo map.

Well worth the $20! Use this app hiking all the time. Love that it works with Openhikimg Maps! The snap to trail feature on the Gaia website when creating a route is awesome for planning hikes. Also so nice seeing where you are at real time on the trail! I also love the trip stats Altitude profiles! One of my favorite apps!

Ive been using this app for years many times a week. The offline topos are excellent. Also really enjoy the Trip Computer to track cross country skiing and jogging. Thanks for another great update!

Off line maps take way too much space to be practical.

So far it works great! Still havent tapped all the features yet.

I wish all developers were on top of their games as these folks clearly are.

What a fantastic App. I’ve used it for several years now. Excellent recording and organizational functionality. Access to lots and lots of great maps (you have to enable some to see them). Syncs very well with their cloud/web app and Gaia GPS on other iPhone/iPads. This is the best app I have found for the outdoors, trails, backpacking, hiking.

My buddy carries a GPS unit, digital camera and a phone when hunting. All I need is my phone and this App. Works great and all the maps are free. You can tracks our treks and mark waypoints with photos. Buy it!!! You wont regret it.

This app is great for mapping new 4WD tracks. More importantly, if your 4WD vehicle becomes overrun with a swarm of giant lizards, this app can help you to navigate to safety. A single bite can cause total disorientation and loss of direction. Overtime they will stalk you into complete exhaustion... A grim fate for sure. If you have a pre saved escape .gpx via this app you might able to survive this type of encounter. Thanks Gaia!

I hike 15+ miles every Saturday, and this is the app I use to track my hikes. Its simply the best.

Initially, I obtained this app for recording off-road expedition routes. When I decided to start leading expeditions, I found how easy it is to plan a route on the GAIA GPS website, then sync it to my iPad. The many layer options are very beneficial. I do wish GAIA GPS would add a 3rd option on the website for vehicles. Currently, it has options only for hiking and cycling. Those of us who use this for planning trips on 4x4 unpaved roads across AZ, NM, UT, CO, AR, OK, TX, etc...would appreciate a vehicle option.

Ive been using my iPhone to navigate in the woods for years. Over time Ive used a dozen apps. So far this is the best. Its feature rich and the developers are continuously improving on the apps already solid foundation. I like that I can easily plan a trip on my iPad and the track automatically syncs to my iPhone. Tracks are easily recorded, imported from other sources and easily followed. I like the option of multiple free map sources so that you can choose the best one for the area youre going to. I also like that the trip statistics are updated in real time so you know how far youve gone and the pace youre keeping.
